The Daintree Eco Lodge is simply the best place to experience the Daintree rainforest. Set up in1992 by a Swiss syndicate the lodge was built around the trees of the rainforest. Famous people came and stayed. The opening of the lodge coincided with the arrival of new wildlife viewing speedboats that would go out at dawn and dusk. These boats carried small groups into places where the slow bigger 50 seaters couldn't. In 1994 Daintree's rarest bird nested less than 100 metres from the front gate.
